I've spent countless hours in art museums. I love visiting new ones almost as much as I loved working on the other side of the Velvet Rope.
This book is about Museuming. It's about tall ceilings, boring sculptures, creaky floors, dusty plexiglass boxes, kids, old folks, puzzling sound art, proximity alarms, attention spans and the weird hush that falls over everyone when they go into a dimly lit room. I'm writing it like a natural history guide to both the art and the stagecraft of exhibiting things for humans.
